    Rocky Mount Mills

    		Dating back to 1818, the Rocky Mount Mills was one of the first cotton mills built in North Carolina. The factory remained in business until 1996. The area includes the mill that overlooks the Tar River, as well a village which contains homes built between 1885 and 1940.
